Lactation Counseling Services
A Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) can help you on your Lactation journey by helping with simple issues, such as latch, position, nipple pain, over supply, engorgement, low supply, poor baby weight gain, learning swallowing cues, help with pumping. This can all by done by sitting with the parent and listening to what their experience has been so far, and engaging in active observation, assessment, and education. Rachel will listen for what your goals are and help you reach them. If the issue is something a CLC cannot address, and is more complicated, they would refer you to an IBCLC.
According to the Center for Breastfeeding, CLC certification means that "a person has received training and competency verification in breastfeeding and human lactation support, including assessing the latching and feeding process, providing corrective interventions, counseling mothers, understanding and applying knowledge of milk production including in special circumstances and other commonly encountered situations."
Rachel earned her CLC certification in 2018 from The Center for Breastfeeding and was certified through the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice. Rachel has been building on her knowledge ever since, via education and by proving in-person lactation support to her clients. Rachel is passionate about helping families establish successful breastfeeding relationships and getting lactation off to the right start.
Please note that if a person does not wish to breastfeed, but wishes their baby to have breastmilk, Rachel can help the family created a plan and locate resources to support that wish., as well as help during the transition.
