I loved living in the West Village while studying at NYU in the 90s- working at Lanciani's, cutting across Bleeker Street, dining at La Florent & White Horse Tavern. This is some fairly rough footage from the meat-packing district located one block north of where I lived on Horatio Street. 16mm B&W film shot in 1992 between 12th & 14th Streets complete with fashion shoot, guys working on their Cadillac, purveyors, plus lots of metal overhangs of course. The original 16mm B&W film footage is much nicer than this video transfer, of course, so it is hard to make out one of the signs in the background - it reads: 14th St. Food Depot. I'll try and get a better quality transfer done than this one that I did at home. Enjoy! (c) 1995 Rachel Connolly Kwock

While in school I had the honor of traveling to Tennessee sharing the very back bench of a van with Documentarian George Stoney to record the interview audio for "Songs for Ralph", a documentary on Smithsonian Folk Legend Ralph Rinzler. I also had the honor of recording and meeting Pete Seeger. George Stoney and Pete Seeger were both incredible human beings and are sorely missed.
